On a Mull Evening Tour last week shortly after observing an 8 week old Eaglet exercising his/her wings at the edge of the nest cup we saw 3 newly fledged Hen Harriers perched on a fence post!
Look at the beautiful rustic colour of its breast, indicating a young bird.
This beautiful bird was photographed on my mobile phone through my spotting scope and is the highlight of my year so far.
What does the future hold for this bird? Most Hen harrier fledglings on the Hebrides will move off the islands to search for new territories and come under increased risk of confict and persecution.
